A summary of proceedings of a workshop entitled What would a health promoting New Zealand prison system look like?

The day-long workshop was held September 7, 2007 in Wellington, New Zealand, to support the National Health Committee in developing advice to the Minister. It featured a keynote address by Professor Michael Levy of ACT Corrections and group workshops.

Three panels gave firsthand perspectives: from prisoners, clinical and operations professionals, and policymakers.

The workshop was attended by around 85 health professionals, officials from the Ministry of Health and Department of Corrections, prison employees, former prisoners and their advocates.
